Coming Saturday, the 8th of October, at 19:30, we are holding a special screening featuring 3 radical short documentaries: Machines in Flames, How to Disappear, and There is a Prison Around Here? The topics are IT worker resistance, army desertion and prison escape. Here’s how to get there.

Don’t forget that the cinema is outside, so bring something warm if you want to stay cosy. Bring your friends too! We may or may not have snacks and drinks so be prepared and bring something to share. Have you made a movie or video which you want to screen? Or do you have a recommendation or something to say to an audience? Drop us a line at: spaceinvadercinema aτ riseup doτ net

Film descriptions:

Machines in Flames (2022, 50min) finds a secret history of self-destruction by following the footsteps of a clandestine group of French computer workers from the 1980s.

How to Disappear (2020, 21min) is a tribute to disobedience and desertion, searching for possibilities for peace in the most unlikely place of an online war game.

There is a Prison out Here? (2022, 14min) investigates online prison escape footage and German law with a bit of political theory, unearthing the meaning and the critical value of prison escapes.

No screening on 1st of October

Here’s a description of the movie:

Set in an alternate socialist USA which, despite its peaceful Leftist revolution, has continued to fail working class women, people of color and sexual minorities, Born in Flames is a startlingly prescient documentary-style fiction film, depicting the labor of marginalized communities, and their organization and rebellion against oppressive forces.
